Mother’s Day Drawing Ideas: Love Hearts
Nothing says “I love you” quite like a love heart drawing! In this part of our Mother’s Day drawing collection, we’ve got lots of sweet and simple heart tutorials – perfect for adding a little extra love to your Mother’s Day card.
You’ll find easy step-by-step tutorials for a simple heart, a cute candy heart, a beautifully curved heart, and even a heart with a banner to write your special message.
These fun and heartfelt ideas for a Mother’s Day card are a perfect place to start. They are quick and easy to draw, yet show your Mom that you love her!
How to draw a simple heart
Our first heart is a classic heart drawing. This is a simple, straight lines version, often used as a heart icon, which makes for a perfect first heart shape to learn to draw.
If you draw it large, it can be the main picture on your Mother’s Day card, or you can use small simple hearts to decorate the card.
Candy Heart Drawing

Here we are using a very similar heart shape, just slightly rounded, to draw sweet conversational candy hearts that deliver a special message.
While we have created the tutorial originally for Valentine’s Day, it is perfect for Mother’s Day as well. Just update the message on the candy heart!
How to draw a nice curved heart

Here is another way to draw a heart. We will just curve the pointed end of the heart a bit. Another simple trick is to slightly overlap the starting circles, to make the heart shape pop out into 3D.
It is not much harder than the simple heart, but we like this shape much more. It looks interesting on its own, if you want just one nice big love heart as a central Mother’s Day drawing on your card.
How to draw a heart with a banner

Here is an even better idea for a Mother’s Day card: Combine the curved heart drawing with a banner that runs across it, and add your short message there.
Simply use the wavy banner from our “how to draw a banner” tutorial. Play with different placements, but running the banner across the heart slightly at an angle seems to work the best, as it nicely matches the shape of the curved love heart skewed to the side.
Now that you have the main Mother’s Day drawing for the front of your card, here are a few ideas for the words for Mom to write inside the folded card, that nicely match the love heart design:
“I love you with all my heart! Happy Mother’s Day!”
“My heart is happy because of you. I love you, Mum!”
“This heart is for the best mum ever! I love you so much!”
Oh, and we even have some small rhymes, if you like them:
“With crayons and love,
I made you this art.
Happy Mother’s Day,
From the bottom of my heart!“
“A little heart,
Drawn by me,
To show you, Mum,
I love you endlessly!“
Mother’s Day Drawing Ideas: Roses
Roses are a classic way to show love, and many moms’ favorite flower too. That is why they also make fresh and beautiful drawing ideas for a Mother’s Day card.
In this part of our Mother’s Day drawing collection, you’ll find lovely and easy tutorials for drawing the perfect rose. You can start with a simple rose, add a pretty bow to make it extra special, or even draw a whole bouquet of roses to really wow Mom!
How to Draw a Rose
This is one of our most popular tutorials. It shows a simple way to draw an awesome-looking rose flower step by step, starting with just a simple spiral and base flower shape.
Rose With a Bow

For a more festive version, you can dress up the humble rose with a lovely red bow. We have borrowed that one from our candy cane drawing tutorial, so check it out if you need step-by-step instructions to draw the bow.
Bouquet of Roses

Finally, if you have mastered the simple rose drawing, you can treat your Mom with a whole bouquet of roses!
As you can see, we have just repeated the same rose drawing three times, flipping the side roses and drawing them at an angle. The bouquet is tied with the same red bow from our candy cane drawing.
Not to leave you halfway, here are some ideas for the writing inside your card that match the rose theme for the Mother’s Day drawing:
“This rose is to say I love you so much! Happy Mother’s Day!”
“I drew the prettiest rose for the prettiest mom! Happy Mother’s Day!”
“You’re as beautiful as a rose, Mom! Happy Mother’s Day!”
And a few small rhymes as well:
“I drew a rose,
So bright and sweet,
For the nicest mum
You’ll ever meet!”
“Pretty petals, soft and sweet,
A rosy gift for you to keep!
I colored it with love and cheer —
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom dear!”
Mother’s Day Drawing Ideas: More flowers
If a rose is too traditional or too hard to draw for you, in this part of our Mother’s Day drawing collection, we’ve gathered a bunch of other beautiful flowers that are fun and easy to draw.
Whether your mom loves bright sunflowers, cheerful daisies, graceful tulips, or just a bunch of simple garden flowers, you’ll find something here. Every mom has a favorite flower!
Depending on how inspired you feel, you can draw a single flower, mix and match to make your own bouquet, or even create a flower-filled card with all her favorites in one place.
Flower drawings make lovely, creative ideas for a Mother’s Day card.
Simple Flower Drawing

This is the easiest flower you will ever draw. It takes just a few easy steps to draw a beautiful five-petal flower – so everyone can do it!
Simple Flower Bouquet

Since our simple flowers take no time to draw, you can also put several of them together in a colorful bunch.
Or try using just the flowers without the stems as a repeating decoration on your Mother’s Day card.
How to Draw a Simple Daisy
With just a little more patience, you can add a few extra petals, with some variation, to our simple flower. Et voila, you get a lovely daisy flower!
These do not take much longer, but look so much more interesting.
Daisy in an Angled Side View
Here is a simple change, drawing the daisy from an angled side view. These would be great to add some variety to your daisy bouquet Mother’s Day drawing.
Now, daisies do not need to be just white, so feel free to draw a nice colourful bouquet for mom.
How to Draw a Sunflower
The sunflower drawing still follows the same basic petals around the centre pattern. It just steps up the patience requirement a notch.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw a lovely sunflower. You will learn a very easy way to build that intricately rich pattern of the many sunflower petals.
Sunflower With Banners

Since we really like the sunflower pattern drawing, and since it reminds us of a lovely sun, we came up with another idea for a Mother’s Day card.
Simply use the sunflower drawing and combine it with the “wavy banner” from our “how to draw a banner” tutorial. Here we are using the banner twice, flipped upside down, to show our Mother’s Day message on the drawing.
How to Draw a Simple Tulip
This simple tulip is another easy-to-draw flower that you can use in your Mother’s Day drawing bouquets.
If you are an absolute beginner, use this simple tulip in combination with the five-petal simple flower and surprise both yourself and your mum with a nice colorful Mother’s Day flower bouquet.
How to Draw a Tulip
Our second tulip drawing is not much harder to draw than the simple version. It just uses some more organic shapes and curves for a beautiful and more realistic tulip drawing.
As another idea for a Mother’s Day card, this one would pair well with the daisy flowers to draw a nice flower bouquet.
OK, let’s finish off this section of flower ideas for Mother’s Day card with some nice text suggestions to put inside your card. Choose the ones you like, and make them into your own words.

I drew these flowers
For you, Mum dear!“
